Recently, I was speaking to one of my very good friends who works in a multinational company.

I called him about 9pm in the country he resides, he told me that he was in a meeting at work!

I was like which work? Don’t you have a closing time? He said he doesn’t. I said that’s not possible. He works round the clock and fixed the meeting!

This guy is a big boss where he is and works from home. He tells me that he has a lot of projects he is working on that’s why. I ask about his wife, he tells me that she’s even come to check on him twice already to ask “how far?”

Then I got upset with him. I know he loves his job; he is a workaholic! However, I told him, sacrificing your family time for work is a bad idea!

Can I tell you a very honest truth? No matter how important you are at that job you love, if you collapse today and die, the company will find someone else who may even be better than you to replace you immediately!

Why would you lock yourself up all day because of work and deny your family the quality time needed with you?

These family members are the ones that love you not your employer! Don’t take them for granted!

Singles, there’s no point getting married if you’re a workaholic, just remain in love with your job! It’s hard when your spouse has to compete with your job just to have you! That spouse will be miserable especially if quality time is their love language!

If you’re married and your spouse is complaining about the time you give to work, it’s important that you listen and find a balance.
