TRAIN UP YOUR CHILD
TRAIN UP YOUR CHILD

We finished having lunch yesterday and as usual, the boys packed up and the older one began washing the dishes.
I have been training my younger son to learn to do the dishes for some months now. He would usually stand by his brother watching him and then rinse the dishes after.
Yesterday, instead of staying with his brother, he was in the sitting room playing. So I said “Feranmi you need to be here with your brother learning how to do the dishes”.
To my surprise, he replied “Mummy I already know how to do the dishes, it’s just that you don’t believe in me”.
What? I was shocked! I never experredit! 🤣
I don’t believe in you bawo? How can I not believe in my own 6 year old son? Where did that even come from? So many thoughts running through my mind…
So, I said, “I believe in you darling, let’s give you a chance”.
I told him to finish washing the dishes and to my amazement, he did excellently!
I realised I had underestimated his abilities and reassured him that I believed in him, just did not know he had learnt it yet!
Why did I share it, there are so many lessons to learn from here. But I shared this to remind a parent out there, Give that child a chance to explore their abilities! Don’t underestimate them.

Now that these two boys can wash the dishes, you don’t know how much relief I feel 😂😂. I’m a very happy mum 😄😄.
On to the next chore level - learning to wash the toilet 🤣🤣.
Who is with me? 😄😄
